PRINCE OF ASTURIAS AWARD FOR LETTERS 2006

MEMBER OF THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF ARTS AND LETTERS

Paul Auster was born in New Jersey, studied at Columbia University and lived in France for four years. He returned to New York in 1974 and devoted himself to writing and translating poems and essays until starting out on his publishing career with La invención de la soledad (The Invention of Solitude). This was followed by the famous Trilogía de Nueva York (New York Trilogy) and his subsequent books such as El Palacio de la luna (Moon Palace), Leviatán (Leviathan) and Brooklyn follies have also been lavished with praise. He then spent some time writing and directing cinema before returning to the novel. He is as popular with the novel-reading public as he is respected by critics.

La Vanguardia offers a reading guide of all Paul Auster's work, in Spanish.
