He was born in Baradero, Argentina. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Buenos Aires, where he has also taught Argentine Literature, and is an expert on Don Quixote.
Prolific and multifaceted, Jeanmaire combines narrative fiction with historical and philosophical reflection in a work that appeals to critics and readers alike.
Jeanmaire has received important literary awards, including the Premio Consagración Ricardo Rojas; the 2009 Emecé Award for Inner Life; the 2009 Clarín Award for Lighter Than Air; and the 2021 Unicaja Award for Darwin or the origin of old age. He was also a finalist for the Herralde Novel Prize for Dwarf Loves. His books have been translated into several languages.
