Eduardo Berti (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1964) is a writer, translator, and cultural journalist. He lives in France and has been a member of OuLiPo (the renowned Ouvroir de Littérature Potentielle) since 2014. His work has received numerous accolades, including the Emecé Prize (2011), the Las Américas Prize (2012), and a Kónex Award for Literature (2014).
He debuted with the short story collection Los pájaros (The Byrds) (1994), praised by critics as one of the best books of the year. Among his most notable novels are Agua (Water), translated into several languages, and La mujer de Wakefield, a finalist for the prestigious Prix Femina in France. Other works include Todos los Funes (All the Funes) –finalist for the Herralde Prize-, La sombra del púgil (The boxer’s shadow), and El país imaginado (The imagined Land).
As a translator, Berti has rendered into Spanish the works of Nathaniel Hawthorne, Jane Austen, and Gustave Flaubert. He has also curated anthologies such as Galaxia Borges and Fantasmas. His work, translated into multiple languages, affirms his place as a leading voice in contemporary literature.
