Soy un jardín (I am a garden) is a return to childhood. A trip back in time to walk once again through the gardens of yesteryear. To spy on hummingbirds flitting among the sage, to smell the scent of magnolias. To see grandma’s spoon stirring and stirring in the pot where quince is cooking.
I Am a Garden is a book of living memories. A book that evokes the memory of spontaneous play, outdoors, in contact with nature during the early stages of life. In a personal journey, told almost in whispers, it invites little ones to play outside, to have sensory experiences in a natural environment where they can freely discover and explore the plant world and live their own adventures. It is about rediscovering nature, uncovering all its secrets, enchanted by the universe of shapes, textures, colors, smells, and tastes that childhood gardens hold.
I Am a Garden is divided into two parts. In the first, plants, flowers, and trees are evoked in short texts anchored in the senses, memories, and experiences. In the second part, the “Little Encyclopedia of My Garden,” the book traces the origin and characteristics of each of the species that appear throughout the book.
